Leader in Sustainability 2024 Recognition
February 14, 2025

Thanks to YOU, PEI is making an impact!

IWMC was to recently be recognized as a Leader in Sustainability for 2024 by Call2Recycle, the country’s leading battery collection and recycling organization. 10,744 kilograms of batteries were diverted from our waste stream and sent for recycling last year!

This recognition highlights our commitment to safe, efficient battery recycling and driving a greener, more sustainable future. It wouldn’t be possible without those who participated in battery recycling at our sites. Thank you for making a difference one battery at a time!

Why Recycle Batteries?

Batteries are a special disposal item. They are not collected curbside and can cause dangerous fire incidents in carts and collection trucks. It’s also important to keep batteries out of the landfill where they can cause environmental harm.

For free and safe battery disposal, visit a Waste Watch Drop-Off Center or find a location near you at Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!

To avoid sparking, remember to individually bag or cover the terminals of Lithium-Ion batteries with electrical, duct, or packing tape.

Learn more about battery recycling on the Recycle Your Batteries, Canada! website.
