LIGHT BULB RECYCLING PROGRAM Posted on: 2015-06-08
All bulbs on PEI are now recyclable!
LightRecycle launched a program for PEI homes and businesses to ensure bulbs are recycled properly. There is NO CHARGE for this program, and any type of bulb that can easily be removed from the fixture is accepted.
Bulbs may be taken to any Waste Watch Drop-Off Center. Large volume generators must contact the drop-off location when disposing of more than 16 lights at one time.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY TYPE OF LIGHT BULB IN YOUR WASTE CART OR IN YOUR BLUE BAGS.
Light bulbs accepted include:
- Compact fluorescent (CFLs)
- Fluorescent Tubes (up to 8 ft. in length)
- Incandescent bulbs
- Halogens
- Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs)
- High-Intensity Discharge bulbs (HIDs)
NOTES:
NEVER break light bulbs. If accidental breakage occurs, visit www.lightrecycle.ca for cleanup information.
Businesses that generate a large volume of bulbs may pick up boxes for safe storage and transportation. Ask at your Waste Watch Drop-Off Center.
